You know what time it is. Spring, sun and the urge for an ice cream, but what to choose? The old favorite, or maybe something new? Fear not, as usual, I have taken the bullet and tried all of the new ice cream so you won’t have to. And this year, you really don’t have to. Stay with your old fave, there was nothing on the list that were worth the extra calories. We can sum up the whole lot with ”meh”. No smash hit, but also no blunder either.

Magnum Remix 🍦🍦🍦
Vanilla ice cream, swirls of toasted almond, coated in white and milk chocolate with almond pieces.
I mean, not bad. It’s good but it’s just that. Nothing pops out in any direction and I won’t choose this over any of my old go-to’s.

Cornetto Soft Cookie And Chocolate 🍦🍦
Soft-ice feeling vanilla and chocolate ice cream with pieces of chocolate cake and chocolate sauce inside the cone.
I loved the soft-ice Cornetto last year and since I’m a chocolate junkie, I had high hopes for this one but it really fell short. The chocolate didn’t taste much and it’s also just chocolate on the top of the cone. Inside the cone is only vanilla. Also, they must have forgotten the chocolate sauce in mine. Didn’t even bother to finish it. Again, though, not bad, just meh.

Salty Licorice 🍦🍦🍦🍦
Vanilla ice cream with pieces of salt licorice.
I know a few friends who’ll be happy that there’s finally a good licorice ice cream available. It’s straight forward, just vanilla and licorice and it works. This year’s winner!

Sandwich Duo Milk Chocolate and Pear 🍦🍦
Pear and milk chocolate ice cream with pieces of milk chocolate.
It’s ballsy, messing with an old time classic. For me, this didn’t work at all. The chocolate pieces in the chocolate ice cream (they’re not infused in the pear side) are so small they feel like eating sawdust and the lasting impression was a dry sandwich. Other than that, the pear ice cream wasn’t too bad. They should probably had stuck with that all together.

Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Brownie Piece Pop 🍦🍦🍦
Vanilla ice cream, chocolate pieces and chunks of brownie coated with salted caramel.
This was a little bit of a surprise actually. Didn’t like the Piece Pop last year and expected to dislike this one too but it was good. As usual when it’s B&J, they overdo it and add too much stuff but it kind of works. Again, it would have been better if the coating chocolate would have been hard and not soft, they did this last year too, but I would eat this again should someone buy it for me.

Snowflake 🍦🍦🍦🍦
Dedicated to Frozen princesses Anna and Elsa. Vanilla ice cream and chocolate coated purple cone.
This was actually very good. Sometimes, all you need is vanilla ice cream in a purple cone. If my kid was old for ice cream, we would munch on this together!
Triumf Glass
Triumf only brought one new ice cream to the table this year.

Farbror Arnes Brynt Smör (Uncle Arne’s Browned Butter)🍦🍦🍦🍦
Vanilla ice cream with browned butter coated in golden chocolate with cookie crumbs
I like this, it’s rich in flavor and you can really taste the caramel tones from the browned butter. It reminds me of last year’s winner Magnum Double Gold Caramel Billionaire (that name is a mouthful…) but falls just short of overtaking the throne. It lacks a little something to match Billionaire’s extra-extra. Then again, this is a little bit classier and more elegant perhaps.
